Exceptional Service Award, U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, 2011

In 2011, Zuckerman Spaeder LLP partner Herbert Better received an “Exceptional Service Award” from the judges of the U.S. District Court for ‎the District of Maryland in recognition of his dedication and commitment in providing exceptional ‎service to the court. Over a period of years, Mr. Better played an integral role in the founding of the ‎Historical Society of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, which was formed in 2007 and ‎commenced operations in 2010. Chosen the first president of the Historical Society, Mr. Better was ‎involved in the design and construction of the Historical Society’s first exhibits, one introducing the ‎Historical Society and the other on the history of admiralty law in the court, which were officially ‎unveiled during the court’s Biennial Bench-Bar Conference on Friday, October 21, 2011. The exhibits ‎will be on display indefinitely in the lobby and on the third floor of the U.S. Courthouse in Baltimore. ‎

‎“I am honored to have been chosen for this award by the judges of the U.S. District Court,” said Mr. ‎Better. “We already have begun work on the design of new exhibits that will further the mission of ‎the Historical Society to display the rich history of the court for the educational benefit of all who ‎frequent the federal courthouses in Baltimore and Greenbelt.”‎

Mr. Better previously was the recipient of the U.S. District Court’s Pro Bono Service Award in 2001. ‎Click here for more information about the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. ‎
